Terms of Employment and Salary:
As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Nine Mile Falls Education Association (NMEA) and Policies and Procedures of Nine Mile Falls School District. The annual base salary range for the position is: Min.$55,219.00 - Max.$105,714.00. Salary placement will be at Step 0 of the Nine Mile Educators Association Collective Bargaining Agreement unless documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full term shall be entitled to a prorated part of the sick leave allowance Each employee shall earn three (3) annual leave days per year. Employees less than 1.0 FTE will receive a prorated share of annual leave based on their FTE. 

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over the school year are eligible for retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.

Nature and Scope of Job:  (1 or 2 sentence summary of position)
The Special Education Preschool Teacher will develop and provide specialized instruction to meet the individualized needs of our preschool students in an inclusionary early learning environment. You will join a supportive Nine Mile community and school team to foster academic and social emotional growth for each student.

Primary Job Functions

  1. Maintain special education preschool caseloads, ensuring services for those students in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  2. Coordinate services as the individual overseeing the IEP, ensuring students are consistently receiving services, supports, accommodations, and/or modifications as delineated in each student’s IEP.
  3. Design, implement, and review IEPs in accordance with all state and federal requirements.
  4. Participate as a collaborative member of school and district teams, such as Multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), Guidance Team (GT) meetings, grade level/PLC/department teams.
  5. Collaborate with school staff, related service providers and parents to collect information and monitor the progress of students in order to review and adjust educational plans.
  6. Collaborate with general education early learning teachers to adjust core curriculum, instruction and assessment to meet the unique learning needs and styles of students.
  7. Provide flexible scheduling to include both inclusionary pull-out services.
  8. Provide specially designed instruction in general education settings and special education settings, including accommodations, supplemental services, and modifications of general education curriculum.
  9. Alongside teammates, use data to cooperatively plan, develop, and implement a course of instruction designed to meet the behavior and academic needs of students.
  10.  Implement instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for achieving student success, including use of technology and an ability to incorporate into instructional programs.
  11.  Create and manage a classroom environment that is safe and nurturing, and conducive to learning for all students.
  12.  Provide positive behavior supports to students.
  13.  Use IEP evaluation methods in designated goal areas for purposes of IEP development, review, and progress monitoring and provide feedback to parents, IEP team members, and administration regarding students’ progress, expectations, goals, etc.
  14.  Create an effective 2 way communication system with parents.
  15.  Assist in supervising and scheduling Paraprofessionals in conducting instruction, utilizing behavior strategies, and other relevant job duties in all settings.
  16.  Maintain accurate, complete, confidential, and timely records.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. Washington State Teaching Certificate with an Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement

Minimum Requirements (Traits, Education, Certifications, Experience, Training, physical requirements, etc.):

  1. Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with a
    1. Special Education Endorsement, (OR)  
    2. Early Childhood Education Endorsement with 16 semester hours of coursework applicable towards a Special Education Endorsement and be eligible for a pre-endorsement waiver, (OR)
    3. Elementary Education Endorsement with 16 semester hours of coursework applicable towards a Special Education Endorsement and be eligible for a pre-endorsement waiver.
  2. Current WSP/FBI fingerprint clearance
  3. Specific education, training and demonstrated successful experience in providing special education services to students in a public school inclusionary setting.
  4. Maintain a consistent presence at the assigned work site and regular work hours 
  5. Comply with all district policies and procedures 
  6. Comply with the Code of Professional Conduct 
  7. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor

  6. Skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds
  7. Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations
  8. Knowledge and Experience working with the PBIS model
  9. Additional endorsements
  10. Experience with IEP Online preferred.

Environmental and Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to lift 50 pounds, kneeling and bending 
  2. Climate-controlled indoor environment with or without air-conditioning
  3. May be required to supervise outdoors or outside of school grounds (field trips)
  4. Escort students to the lunchroom, library, recess, and or field trips
  5. Managing the activity level of Preschool aged children
  6. May be required to stand for several hours at a time
