Summer School - Nurse

IN DISTRICT ONLY:

Summer school dates will be June 24th thru July 25th, Monday through Thursday (excluding July 4th). Hours: 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM.

This position supports all levels of summer school at Mountain View Elementary, Shelton High School, and Choice High School. 

Pay will be at current per diem rate.

Job Summary:

The goal of the Summer School Nurse is to advance the well-being and academic success of students in the summer school program.  This includes assessing the health needs of the students; developing emergency care plans and individual health care plans; providing care for ill, injured, and medically fragile children; identifying health problems that require referral for proper treatment; promoting health and safety; ensuring that District health care practices comply with the law; training unlicensed assistive personnel to manage health care needs in the nurse’s absence; teaching students how to care for their own health; and serving as a health care resource to staff.

Requirements:

• Current school Nurse with Shelton School District.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance during the summer school program.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community members.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and tact in all aspects of employment.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff and students.

Reports to:  Summer School Administrator or Designee
