Overview

 

The Systems and Applications Specialist position delivers technical support to users (staff and administrators) about how to use major systems and applications efficiently and effectively in fulfilling education and administrative objectives. This includes troubleshooting applications and software for all users, resolving technical issues, and ensuring the stability, reliability, and integrity of the server infrastructure.

 

Requirements

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree or higher in a technology related field and at least three years’ experience working a technology related position OR at least five years’ experience working in a technology related position.
  • Successful experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Office 365, Google, and Adobe.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff, students, and vendors.
  • Possession of a growth mindset and the willingness and desire to grow professionally and personally.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and tact in all aspects of employment.

  • Work experience in a public education school district.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Assists the Director of Technology in the development of short- and long-term technology goals and strategies that are driven by the District’s strategic plan, focusing primarily on systems and applications.
  • Performs Active Directory set up, administration, and account management.
  • Maintains and supports backups for servers including monitoring automatic backup routines and maintaining backup software.
  • Provides planning, coordination, technical expertise, and support for the District’s Windows and Unix servers.
  • Manages and creates accounts, troubleshoots problems, and provides resolutions; provides account user support assistance.
  • Manages Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure and cloud-based Azure Active Directory and ensures Google Workspace mirrors data in Active Directory.
  • Manages Adobe and Microsoft 365 software for teachers and staff.
  • Troubleshoots and resolve server hardware and software problems in a timely manner.
  • Maintains and supports backups for servers including monitoring automatic backup routines and maintaining backup software. Assists in planning and implementing business continuity planning and disaster/failure recovery procedures.
  • Maintains and updates technical documents sand procedures.
  • Develops implementation and upgrade plans in conjunction with the Director of Technology for applications and the selection of new features and functionality as well as new critical applications.
  • Conducts training programs on new features and functionality for major applications not supported by other departments.
  • Works closely with the Director of Data and Assessment as needed to ensure data integration for all District systems and applications.
  • Develops and enforces sets of data quality procedures for integrated applications.
  • Manages database integration tasks to ensure consistency in and across all District databases.
  • Supports staff in all departments with database matters, including integration, updates, queries, reports, and related issues.
  • Provides users with consistent high quality, reliable and friendly customer service.
  • Attends meetings and professional development as appropriate or directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Reports to: Director of Technology

 

Schedule: 260 days per school year, M-F, 7:30-4:30 (flexibility required for emergencies or other scheduled needs).

 

Salary: $98,973-$111,395 annually, depending on experience.
