This is a substitute position with no guarantee of hours or days for the 2023-24 school year.

Must possess a current State of Washington Department of Health Food Handler's Certificate (required document must be added to application).

Ability to pass a federal background check.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Food Services Director, this position performs routine work in setting-up, preparing and serving food, and clean-up activities while maintaining sanitary conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Depending upon individual assignment, the Food Service I will perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:

1.Make necessary preparation for preparing and serving meals, help unload van, keep appropriate food either hot or cold, and set up serving lines.

2. Directs assigned personnel, students, workers and/or volunteers.

3. Cleans utensils, equipment and the areas of storage, food preparation and serving.

4. Store and dispose of unused food and get ready for transport.

5. Ability to transport a minimum of 40LB food containers.

6. Order supplies and goods necessary for serving meals; provide inventories to main kitchen when appropriate.       

7. Keep check on refrigerator and freezer temperatures.

8. Responsible for daily participation counts and amounts of food used.

9. Performs related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

School cafeteria environment for all age students. Requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting.  Must be able to speak, hear and see.  Be able to work efficiently while experiencing frequent interruptions and schedule changes.  Required to deal with a wide range of situations, behaviors, and information. Required to deal with a wide range of situations, behaviors, and abilities. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people.

Must have prior school food service experience.

The ability to pass a federal background check.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: 

Must possess a current State of Washington Department of Health Food Handler's Certificate.

REPORTS TO:  Director of Food Services

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Hours per day and days per week to be determined by the Director of Food Services and the Personnel Office.  Salary and benefits according to adopted salary schedule.

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of Washington State.
