We are looking for special education teachers to provide individualized educational intervention to students during the Extended School Year.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a current teacher in Shelton School District
  • Must possess a Special Education Endorsement
  • Ability and willingness to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with peers and administration.
  • Ability and willingness to develop and maintain positive working relationships with other staff, students, and families.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain regular attendance.
  • Must possess an understanding of the Common Core and how students with special needs can access general education curriculum as appropriate.

Extended School Year (ESY) dates will be June 24th thru July 25th, Monday through Thursday (excluding July 4th). Hours: 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM.

The hourly rate (per diem)for teachers depends on placement on the salary schedule.  To be paid from a time card. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides instruction for students in the identified area(s) of need, per the IEP.
  • Provides daily lesson plans and keeps records and data on student progress toward meeting the goal areas identified in the IEP.
  • Designs and implements activities in the classroom, playground, or other related areas specific to their IEP.
  • Maintains compliance with state and federal guidelines for program delivery.
  • Maintains clear, consistent, and frequent communication with staff, building administrators, and families provide continued appropriate progress and changes in the student’s program.
  • Maintains files and forms for special education compliance in a timely manner.
  • Records and submits timely signed and dated reports for each student assessed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal, Director of Special Education, or designee.

SCHEDULE: 6/24/24-7/25/24, Monday-Thursday (excluding 7/4), 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM (4.5 hrs. of instruction, with .5 planning daily). 6/20/24 - 6 hours for training. Additional meetings prior to the start of the program to prepare.

SALARY: The 2023-2024 per diem rate of the chosen candidates to be paid via timeslips.
