Job Title: Substitute Food Service Associate 

Work Location: Nine Mile Falls School District 

Nature and Scope of Job
May be responsible for serving breakfast and lunch, supervising student servers, cashier, washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, production record keeping, and safe food handling practices. 

Position Reports To: Building Administrator / Human Resources

Classification: Substitute Instructional Paraprofessional 

Work Day:  Monday – Friday; Hours Vary

Begin: 2023/24 School Year

Salary:  Current Washington State Minimum Wage     

Benefits: Substitutes will accrue 1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked.  Substitutes who work 630 hours will become benefit-eligible for the remainder of the school year.  Standard benefits include, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability. Primary Job Functions

  1. Preparing and or serving meals
  2. Sanitation/food safety/record keeping in compliance with state and federal guidelines
  3. Cashier during meals, depositing money into meal accounts, proper cash handling, and daily paperwork.
  4. Assist in stocking and cleaning of kitchen.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Required Qualifications (Traits, Education, Experience, Training, physical requirements, etc.):

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Read and write in English and calculate simple math.
  3. Current Washington State Food Handler Permit. 
  4. Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  5. Able to stand for long periods of time. 
  6. Able to supervise student workers in a positive manner.
  7. Able to work as a team member. 

Desired Qualifications

  1. Experience in an institutional kitchen.
  2. Able to problem solve and make effective decisions using positive communication skills.
  3. Understanding of USDA requirements for the National School Lunch and Breakfast program. 

Equipment Used

Computer, Slicer, Mixer, Food Processor, Ovens, Steamer, Warmer, Dishwasher, Braising Pan, Steam Table.

Environmental Demands:

Heat and High Humidity, Steam and Hot Water, Hard Floor, Prolonged Standing, Cleaning Supplies, Odors, and Noise.
