Terms of Employment and Salary:
as outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Nine Mile Falls Administrators Association and Policies and Procedures of Nine Mile Falls School District. 

The compensation range for the position is:  Min $124,194.00 Max $134,274.00. Salary placement will be at step 1 on the appropriate scale for the position.  Previous relevant verified experience may result in higher step placement. 

A typical work year consists of 260 days which will be comprised of work days, holiday, vacation days, and other approved leave days.   Administrators shall receive and may utilize illness and emergency leave consistent with state statute, board policy and leaves afforded other corticated employees. 

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability.  Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.

Nature and Scope of Job:  (1 or 2 sentence summary of position)
The Assistant Principal is a vital building leadership team member assigned to help implement the School Improvement Plan, coach professional learning communities to improve student learning, manage building facilities, manage student intervention, supervise certified and classified staff, and manage safety and security at Lakeside High School.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Learning Domain

  1. Foster a culture of excellence and improvement. Set high, measurable goals for student learning and use data to monitor progress and inform decisions.
  2. Nurture a culture of self-reflection, empower stakeholders to identify their strengths and areas of improvement and to seek feedback and support from others.
  3. Ensure that we offer a learning-focused curriculum that is comprehensive, rigorous, aligned with state and national standards and meets the needs and aspirations of all students. 
  4. Foster a learning environment that utilizes data to monitor student progress, improve the instructional process and learning environment, and ensure high levels of personal and academic growth for all students.
  5. Create an environment that supports creative thinking and risk-taking in order to generate knowledge and insight through nontraditional ways.
  6. Lead the development and implementation of an effective, research-based instructional program that meets the needs and interests of every student. Work collaboratively with your teaching staff to establish clear and consistent expectations for high-quality instruction that aligns with the school’s vision, mission, and goals.

Oversee the educational, operational, and financial affairs and resources of the school, and balance them effectively to meet the diverse needs of the students and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Required Qualifications (Traits, Education, Experience, Training, Physical Requirements, etc.)

  1. Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field. Ability to obtain Washington State Principal Certificate and/or Professional Administrator certificate prior to the first contracted day.
  2. Previous successful Administrative or Assistant Principal Experience preferred.
  3. If currently under contract, must be able to be released.
  4. Five years of secondary-level teaching experience.
  5. WSP/FBI Clearance

Desired Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated expertise in curriculum and instruction including needs assessment, curriculum development, program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  2. Experience with leading school MTSS processes.
  3. Demonstrated skill and experience in the selection, placement, supervision, and evaluation of certificated and classified staff.
  4. Knowledge of, and the ability to use, researched-based pedagogy to support and influence effective teaching and learning.
  5. Demonstrated experience with student management, discipline, and restorative justice.
  6. Demonstrated ability to facilitate resolution of complex issues.
  7. Experience leading and or participating in the PLC process. 
  8. Demonstrated sensitivity to providing equitable opportunities for all.
  9. Demonstrated skill in communicating to diverse audiences both orally and in writing.
  10. Demonstrated knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing the operation of public high schools in Washington State.
  11. Demonstrated understanding of developmentally appropriate instruction and assessment.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  1. Human relations and communication skills are necessary to handle frequent personal telephone inquiries from administration, teachers, parents, staff members, and students.
  2. The Assistant Principal operates under extremely heavy workloads and inflexible deadlines.  Requests are often received that require immediate attention, setting up conflicting priorities for a timely response. 
  3. Sound judgment and a pleasant attitude are required in a stressful situation. 
  4. The employee must have the ability to lift materials, equipment, or boxes weighing up to 45 pounds.
