Job Description

General Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Specialized Services Birth to 21 Executive Director, the Special Education Assistant Director provides educational leadership and direction for school district special education programs within the 33 school district members of the ESD 112 Special Education ESA.

Salary:
The full salary range for this position is $104,116.09 - $126,676.84. Offers are made at the beginning of the range.

Assignment/Location:
This position will serve the Mabton School District for the 2025-2026 school year. This position is full time, 200 days (.93023 FTE), and the assignment will start on August 4, 2025.

This position will close on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

  1. Use data, research and best practices to design and lead special education programs and services that provide special education students with a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.
  2. Coordinate programs and services to identify, assess, place and serve eligible students special education services and ensure student progress.
  3. Assign, supervise, evaluate and develop special education staff to support the educational needs of special education students.
  4. Build and maintain productive relationships and strong partnerships with families, school district staff, community agencies; and local, state and federal government entities.
  5. Manage the day-to-day special education program operations for the Special Education ESA member districts to maximize resources and assure a safe, efficient and effective learning environment for students and staff.
  6. Assure compliance with all federal, state, agency and school district laws, rules, regulations and procedures that govern students with disabilities.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Hold or eligible to hold a Washington administrative credential.
  2. Hold or eligible to hold a valid Washington teaching certificate or ESA certification.
  3. Masters degree.
  4. Three years teaching or other certificated experience (e.g., school psychologist, speech pathologist, physical therapist).
  5. Administrative experience serving special education populations.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  1. One year of educational leadership experience that includes employee supervision and evaluation.
  2. Experience designing curriculum and instructional strategies for special education populations.
  3. Experience delivering professional development to teachers and support staff.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions:

  1. School building work setting, office environment.
  2. Travel to assigned districts in ESD 112 Special Education ESA service region.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
